A Sonic game wouldn’t be the same if you couldn’t turn into his super form at some point. How you do that is to wield all 7 Chaos Emeralds and collect 50 rings. If you want to play as Super Sonic in Frontiers, it’ll be a bit more straightforward than you think. Here’s how you can experience this in Sonic’s true golden glory.
How to Play as Super Sonic in Frontiers
As you will see early on, Sonic will encounter colossal beings called Titans. They cannot be defeated using conventional Sonic speed and are perhaps the literal biggest enemies he has gone up against yet. Instead, you’ll need to become Super Sonic, which requires the power of the Chaos Emeralds to even have a fair fight against them.
You’ll find and collect Chaos Emeralds by collecting Vault Keys. Collect enough of these and you’ll be able to unseal the vaults that carry them. Taking part in the various activities around the islands will net you that much closer to obtaining all 7. Once you do, you’re able to take on the Titan of that island.
When a Titan is defeated in an epic battle against Super Sonic, the whole process will have to be redone as various other enemies, new islands, and secrets await you in each world. However, it does not seem that you can play as Super Sonic once you can freely roam around in his Super form. It’s only a bossing mechanic, at least and hopefully for now.
Super Sonic is an integral part of the game this time around. He’s not going up against an army of Eggman robots that he can just turn to scrap metal. This time around, he’s pitted against ancient mechanical entities that have essentially trapped his friends and Doctor Eggman in another reality.
