Here you can either hunt down spirits as one of four customizable Ghostbusters members or haunt the place as a Ghost (including Slimer) instead. Although an asymmetric, 4 vs 1 type of game has proven to be pretty popular, gamers are still wondering whether or not Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed can be played solo with AI bots since most of them can’t.
Can You Play Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed with AI Bots?
Thankfully, in this case, the answer is: yes. Despite its focus on team-based, 4 vs 1, asymmetric gameplay, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed does actually provide AI bots when you play solo or the number of human players is not sufficient to start a match. Empty slots in the Ghostbusters team will automatically be filled by AI bots. The same goes for the Ghost as well; if no one is playing as a Ghost, then it will be controlled by an AI.
You can also run the game offline without any internet connection too. When offline, the game will instantly get into Skirmish Mode. In this mode, all content will be instantly unlocked but your stats and story progression will not be saved. Yes, when playing online with friends or randoms, the game does not just provide unlockables to customize your character but story cutscenes as well, featuring the voices of Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson as Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddemore, veteran Ghostbusters that will help lead your team.
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed comes with a crossplay function between PC and consoles, so looking for additional members shouldn’t be too hard. You can easily play with friends from different platforms by adding them to your PSN, Xbox, or Epic Friend List, going to the Firehouse tab via the main screen, then inviting them by selecting the Other Platforms option from the computer in the lobby.
