Although Mercy is well-known as one of the easiest Heroes to play in both Overwatch and Overwatch 2, she still does have a high skill ceiling for playing the crucial role of her team’s support. Most players will know her for her single-target healing ability, but her Caduceus Staff is also capable of bolstering an ally’s damage output. Her Caduceus Blaster lacks substantial damage but can be used as a tool to poke opponents and apply pressure in combat. Finally, her Ultimate in Overwatch 2 is Valkyrie, enhancing her abilities and enabling her temporary flight. Continue reading to learn more about using Mercy, the Swiss Medic.

Using Mercy in Overwatch 2

Like any Hero in Overwatch 2, Mercy has three abilities: Guardian Angel, Resurrect, and Angelic Descent. Guardian Angel enables Mercy to fly towards an ally, and Resurrect allows a fallen teammate to be revived during a match. Angelic Descent has the character fall very slowly, helping players position themselves better during descent.

Overwatch 2: Doomfist Hero Guide (Tips & Abilities)

Naturally, those who played Mercy in Overwatch will already have a good idea of how her kit works. Besides her appearance, there is a mechanic that also has undergone a change in Overwatch 2. According to Pro Game Guides, Mercy’s “super jump” ability has now become an official feature built into her Guardian Angel. When the “Guardian Angel” prompt appears, players can fly toward an ally and activate Crouch to propel themselves upward into the air. Additionally, her Angelic Descent can be used to slow down her ascent, giving players time to better position themselves when healing or buffing a teammate.

When playing as Mercy in Overwatch 2, players should have a supportive mindset, but this does not mean they should play passively. Thanks to Mercy’s Regeneration Passive, she can take several hits and restore HP on her own; therefore, staying only near the backline is not necessary to be safe. After all, it is crucial to keep those in the frontline alive to deal or tank the most damage. One of the most important aspects of playing Mercy is understanding how to move and position oneself properly in a match. While no strategy always works, recognizing where to stand or fly when healing and buffing allies is crucial and sometimes more important than the support applied. If Mercy players are playing too passively, they cannot reach their allies in time, but if they are incorrectly positioned near the frontline, they will get eliminated. Therefore, movement and positioning are key.

Overwatch 2 is available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
