Rather than have a move relearner or move tutor in previous titles, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet skips the entire hassle by giving players the ability to teach Pokémon their old moves themselves. This is especially useful for Pokémon that evolve through an item like an evolution stone as they could have learned all sorts of moves that the Pokémon has leveled past. This is all done in the Summary menu of the Pokémon, and here is everything players need to know about remembering old moves in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

How to remember old moves in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

One of the biggest quality of life improvements from Pokémon Legends Arceus returns for Scarlet & Violet. To teach old moves to Pokémon, all players must do is go to the Pokémon they want to remember moves on and go to their Summary. In their party, players can select a Pokémon and press A for additional options. Clicking Check Summary will bring them to a menu that looks at the Pokémon’s Summary, Moves, Stats, and Memories. Pressing Right from Summary will take players to the Pokémon’s Moves.

Pressing A will give players options to Remember moves, Forget moves, or use TMs. The remember option will list all the Pokémon’s moves that they are high enough level to have learned. If a move unlocks later by leveling up, it will not be listed. Any level 1 moves, such as moves that the Pokémon inherently learns either through evolution or otherwise, will also be listed. For example, Scizor can be obtained at any time after trading Scyther with Metal Coat and is offered to learn Bullet Punch. When choosing to remember its other moves, it will display all the moves it could learn at level 1, such as Agility, Wing Attack, and False Swipe.
