Last year, the Madden developers added run pass option (RPO) plays to the franchise. RPOs are handy plays that give you the option to either run the football, or quickly pass it to an open receiver. RPOs have returned once again for Madden 21, and the devs have added some new run pass option plays as well. So how do you run an RPO in Madden 21? Let’s go over what you have to do.

There are a couple of ways to find an RPO play to call, but a very easy way to do this is to first hit the Play Type option at the play call screen. From there, scroll over until you see the RPO screen, and then press A/X. Here, you will see a number of run pass option plays to choose from, and you will be able to see what the formation is, as well as who is the intended target (this is indicated with a red line). If you have a specific formation in mind that you want to use, you can also call the play by selecting the Concept option.

After you have called the play, press A/X to snap the ball and begin the play. Once you have done this, you can either decide to go ahead and run the ball (this is the default). Or, you can quickly press the button that is above the wide receiver that is the intended target of the play.

Keep in mind that this decision to either run or pass will have to be made quickly. Make sure that you have taken enough time to read the coverage and the alignment of the defensive line and linebackers before making your choice.
