Gamescom 2022 just announced a new project from Unknown Worlds, the developer of the popular open-world crafting title Subnautica, called Moonbreaker. Designed to be a “true digital miniatures experience,” Unknown Worlds teams up with Brandon Sanderson, the man behind the Mistborn series and The Stormlight Archive, to give this turn-based strategy game a unique, expansive sci-fi universe inspired by the Guardians of the Galaxy. The game is launching as a Steam Early Access title in just five weeks, and here’s how you can sign up and play Moonbreaker early before the full version is released.

How to Sign Up for Moonbreaker Early Access

Like other Early Access titles on Steam, to sign up for Moonbreaker Early Access all you need to do is to buy the game once it’s out on Early Access on September 29th. Although the Early Acces version of Moonbreaker isn’t yet up for sale and Unknown Worlds hasn’t announced the pricing, you can put it on your Wishlist and be informed when it becomes available.

If you visit its Steam page you can also see a Request Access button for the Moonbreaker Playtest. If your request was able to be accepted by Unknown Worlds, you may be able to play the game even earlier. Just don’t hold your breath though, I’m sure everyone is trying to get into the game as a playtester.

Moonbreaker is a “tabletop tactics game” featuring a sci-fi setting as well as a single-player and competitive multiplayer option. Unlocking all in-game Crews and Captains is only part of the fun; you can paint your Units using traditional painting techniques, obtain various decals and rewards through Seasons, play them on stunning 3D dioramas, and of course, utilize their devastating Unit Mastery abilities in challenging procedurally-generated Cargo Runs or multiplayer matches.

Moonbreaker will be released as an Early Access title on 29 September 2022, on PC via Steam.
