Between your cases in Sherlock Holmes Chapter One, you will find dozens of delightful side-cases to keep you sharp and help you earn a couple of bucks on the side, too. You can begin this case by interacting with any of the violin posters near St. Clement’s Cathedral in central Scaladio.

The poster will direct you to a musician on Professor’s Rd, north of Adler St.

When you arrive, you’ll find the musician in question right outside his apartment. Interact with him to enter the home and begin your investigation. Once inside, turn around to examine the broken lock in Concentration Mode before moving to the main area. Look by the window to find a glass case that’s been smashed.

Scan the case to find a bloodstain, violin bow, broken bottle, lock, and white fabric. After you’ve finished with the glass case, enter your casebook to begin a chemical analysis on the white fabric (solution below).

Note: This solution was specific to our playthrough. Depending on where you are in the main story, you may need to find a different solution to this chemical analysis.

Pin the clue Bloody Trail and exit the apartment. Enter Concentration Mode and you’ll see a trail leading to your right—follow it until it ends around a street vendor, where you’ll find more broken bottles and blood. Speak to the vendor and he’ll reveal that the same men you seek have stolen his donkey.

Now pin the clue Stolen Donkey and speak to anyone friendly nearby—they’ll point you to a set of nearby arches, where you can pick up the donkey’s trail in Concentration Mode.

Follow the trail until you reach the stolen donkey at a tavern. Head up the stairs to the right of the donkey and you’ll see two men to eavesdrop on—interact with the ear icon above their heads and choose to keep the following phrases:

  • Patrons frightened. Wrecking the tavern. Bunch of sailors.

Now follow the sounds of destruction through the door and into the outdoor tavern, where you’ll have to fight three waves of enemies. There are a ton of shootable objects in the environment—use them to your advantage and dispatch the sailors as you see fit. After the fight, you can find the violin on a stool in the center of the area.

Grab the violin and head out of the tavern. You can win a Jon Challenge if you pin the clue Saving Sean and head back to the street vendor to give him the location of his stolen donkey. Find him on the corner of Adler St and Professor’s Rd.

Now head back to the musician and return the violin. He’ll begin to play a song that invokes a memory from Sherlock’s youth. Interact with the music stand behind you in Concentration Mode to begin a cutscene—you’ll finish the case when it completes.
