“Tame Chrome-ified Wildlife” is one of the many Herald Quests in Fortnite Chapter 3: Season 4 that involves riding onto an animal that has been covered in Chrome. For those unfamiliar with Chrome, it is a new mechanic that acts as a liquid that can affect structures, Wildlife, and even players. Chrome Splash is a Consumable in Fortnite that can be found in Chests or Floor Loot. It can also be harvested from a structure covered in Chrome. When covered in Chrome, players can transform into a Chrome Blob, a form capable of moving through Chrome Walls. However, this effect is not available for tamed Wildlife, nor is it involved in completing the Herald Quest.
Taming Chrome-ified Wildlife in Fortnite
To complete the “Tame Chrome-ified Wildlife” quest in Fortnite Chapter 3: Season 4, players must find a Chrome-covered Boar or Wolf out in the world. These Boars or Wolves will be distinctly different in their appearance from their standard form, as their fur will be soaked in a metallic sheen.

After finding a Chrome-covered or “Chrome-ified” Boar or Wolf in Fortnite, players must tame the Wildlife creature by jumping onto its back. However, this process is easier said than done. Wolves are highly aggressive, and Boars will either attempt to ram combatants or swiftly flee. One of the best ways to tame an animal quickly would be to stand on an elevated point to have a height advantage when landing on the creature’s back. Such a point would include a sloping hill, a building, or even a simple picket fence.
Next, there are two ways to find a Chrome-ified Wildlife creature to tame in Fortnite. The first method is encountering one that has already been covered in Chrome by another player or the environment. However, this situation can be quite rare. Alternatively, YouTuber HarryNinetyFour suggests via gameplay that fans can find and equip a canister of Chrome Splash and throw it at the animal, causing the creature to become covered in Chrome. Of course, proper aim is required since the beast will not be standing motionless to receive its new makeover. Nevertheless, once players have successfully drenched a Boar or Wolf in Chrome, they can ride it to complete the Herald Quest.
Fortnite is available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
