Ah, motion blur. Truly one of the worst settings to have on by default in any video game, and yet developer after developer includes it. Many have the decency to at least include the option to turn it off. In the case of Tower of Fantasy, developer Hotta Studio is so insistent on having motion blur, that turning it off is a real head-scratcher.

Can you turn off motion blur in Tower of Fantasy?

Yes, you can disable motion blur in Tower of Fantasy. However, it isn’t as simple as going into the graphics settings. Instead, it must be disabled manually. Credit here goes to u/maharanji on Reddit for coming up with this solution:

  • In the advanced display settings, set Post Production to Low.Close the game.Navigate to C:\Users%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Hotta\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor in Windows.Add the following to the Engine.ini file:[SystemSettings] r.DefaultFeature.MotionBlur=0Save and launch Tower of Fantasy again.

After following these steps, we can confirm that motion blur is disabled. It’s a bit annoying that users have to modify the game files, but at least it’s a straightforward and easy enough fix to do. Still, it’s baffling why Hotta Studio would want to blur any of this gorgeous title.

  • [SystemSettings] r.DefaultFeature.MotionBlur=0
