If you have been exploring Pokemon Sword and Shield and sometimes feel your screen is a little cluttered, you can blame Y-Comms. It will send you alerts about what nearby players are doing that appear on the screen in the form of notifications. It can be a little intrusive, so in this article, we will show you how to turn them off.

How To Turn Off Y-Comms In Pokemon Sword and Shield

The bad news here is that there is no way to turn them off in the game itself. Game Freak wants you to see what the players around you are doing, even if it does impede your enjoyment of the game. Like many things in life, there is a useful workaround, but even that is not without issue.

If you turn on the Nintendo Switch’s Flight Mode, this will turn off the notifications, giving you a nice clear screen while you play. Sadly, this disables all connections to the device, so you will be unable to play with friends until you turn it back on.

It’s not an ideal world when your choices are to either play with friends but see endless notifications, or play with a clear screen and see none. We would love to see Game Freak patch in a better way to deal with this in the future.
