Not to be confused with the Relay Trials in the Tower of Trials, the Tempest Trials is an instanced combat activity in Fire Emblem Engage that players can participate in to earn EXP rewards and Crystals, which can be used to Augment weaponry in the Ring Chamber of the Somniel. The Tempest Trials tasks players with choosing a specific map layout, after which they must endure a trial of three battles against AI opponents, back to back. Therefore, farming this activity for materials and EXP might be moderately challenging and time-consuming, depending on the chosen difficulty. However, the payoff is undoubtedly worth it.
Unlocking Fire Emblem Engage Tempest Trials
To unlock the Tempest Trials in Fire Emblem Engage, Divine Dragons must progress through the main campaign to clear Chapter 11: Retreat, during which players can recruit Ivy, Kagetsu, and Zelkov. Upon returning to the Somniel after the chapter’s battle is over, players will gain access to the Tempest Trials via the Tower of Trials.
How to Get (& Equip) Inherited Skills in Fire Emblem Engage
According to Fire Emblem Engage content creator Varsona, players can fast-travel to the Tower of Trials and interact with the door to see Tempest Trials as a newly available option. They can then choose from a pool of maps and set their difficulty before entering the instance. The higher the difficulty, the higher value of the rewards received after the battles have been concluded. However, Varsona warns players to note that the Bonus Material reward regarding Crystals is not guaranteed, especially at lower difficulties. In other words, if players are attempting to farm for a specific Augment Crystal via the Tempest Trials, it is best to only participate in mid to high-difficulty scenarios for the best results in rewards.
Conversely, sources at GINX TV recommend that players take advantage of the Tempest Trials as soon and often as possible once the activity is unlocked in Fire Emblem Engage. Grinding the trials’ rewards and EXP can efficiently enhance the units that players often or seldom use without any penalty to resources. However, the time sink of the Tempest Trials might dissuade some players away, but they will not regret the payoff for investing their effort into participating in this highly rewarding activity.
Fire Emblem Engage is available on Nintendo Switch.
