To get new abilities in F.I.S.T Forged in Shadow Torch, you must explore the areas of Shadow Torch and look for Transformers. These transformers are what your bear friend Urso hacked, so the Iron Legion could not recharge their automated machines.
All you have to do is interact with the Transformer, and Rayton will hop into it, and once he comes out, a new ability will be acquired. The first ability you get is Wall Jump. This allows you to grab hold of a wall then spring off it to get some extra height, allowing you access to new locations, and no doubt, discovering some secrets along the way.
Some Transformers will be story-based, and you’ll not have a hard time trying to locate, but others will be hidden away, only to be found by those willing to explore. Since F.I.S.T Forged in Shadow Torch is a Metroidvania, you’ll have to get certain abilities to access specific areas and secrets. This means a lot of backtracking and remembering where areas are, but the map is there to help you, as it will mark anything you have found but not acquired.
