Players have been looking forward to Ishgardian housing in Final Fantasy XIV for almost two full years, and finally, it’s here in patch 6.1. Called the Empyreum, the Ishgard housing district is the product of the Ishgardian Restoration project that players labored over for much of the Shadowbringers expansion.

But now it’s here; how do you unlock the Empyreum housing in Final Fantasy XIV? Luckily it’s just a short questline!

How to get an Empyreum House in FFXIV

Your first step is to talk to Gondelimbaud. He’s located at X: 9.9, Y: 11.8 near the Foundation Aetheryte Plaza. He’ll give you the quest Ascending to Empyreum. Accept the quest and head to the next location.

That will be in Brume. You’ll need to speak to Thomelin (X: 14.2, Y: 12.5), who will give you a brief spiel about the Empyreum before you can enter the area. This will be followed by a brief cutscene introducing the area.

Your final quest marker will be the Highmorn Herald (X: 11.6 , Y: 14.4). Speak to her as she introduces the housing district. Finally, Teleport back to Gondelimbaud in Foundation to complete the quest.

You’ll now be able to head to any of the plots and attempt to purchase a house. To do this, select the Aetheryte in Foundation and select Residential District. There are 24 housing wards, with 1-18 reserved for Free Company housing and 19-24 for personal housing.

Look for one with a Gil amount next to its number to purchase one. That means it’s for sale. Teleport to that ward, and find the plot. Click on the placard next to the plot to be entered into the raffle for the house. The raffle will take four days to complete, after which time you’ll be notified whether you won a house or not. Good luck!
