Horizon Forbidden West allows players to upgrade their equipment and “pouches.” You can do this at workbenches scattered around the game’s massive open-world map. The pouch upgrades will garner a range of effects mostly centered around the carrying capacity for the targeted item.

Potion Pouch upgrades will allow players to carry more potions at a time for use in and out of combat. This upgrade is extremely helpful. You can never do too much healing, especially when fighting late-game machines.

What ingredients are needed to upgrade the Potion Pouch?

There are a total of 3 Potion Pouch upgrades. The items needed for each upgrade are listed below:

  • Upgrade 1 - 25 Metal Shards, 2 Squirrel HideUpgrade 2 - 50 Metal Shards, 1 Prairie Dog Bone, 1 Rabbit BoneUpgrade 3 - 100 Metal Shards, 2 Carp Skin, 1 Bighorn Sheep Bone

These items can be obtained by killing animals around the map and looting their bodies. Some items are more difficult than others, but animals seem to have a much higher chance of dropping rare items than machines, so it shouldn’t take too long to upgrade this pouch.
